Far East Plaza : A place every teen would want to visit .


If you are tired of all this designer brands and labels and looking for something fashionable yet hip and quirky or just some entertainment to pass time. You may want to try Far East Plaza ,The Heeren or Cathay Cinelesure. These 3 malls are targeted at youngsters who prefer middle range goods. WHAT IS SENTOSA ISLAND?

Sentosa Island is a harbourfront destination that uses the S$10-Billion strategic redevelopment plans, to become the Southern Destination Hub. It has a range of leisure and recreation activities, ranging from watching a cinema in 4D! To a WET and WILD experience at our sentosa beaches.

HOW TO GET THERE?

There are many ways to travel to Sentosa Island. You can take the Sentosa Express from vivo city level 3, the Sentosa Bus which come in interval of 10 to 20 minutes and operates 7 am in the morning including public holidays, Public SBS Bus – 65, 80, 93, 188, 855, 10, 30, 97, 100, 131, 143, 145, 166, where the bus fare varies, on foot, by taxi or driving in by car.

There is an admission fee of $3 regardless of the various methods to get there.

EXPERIENCE AT SENTOSA FOR A DAY

Exiting Habourfront MRT station, you can turn left to take the Sentosa Express at Vivo, or turn right to take public bus or Sentosa bus.

In this post, we will be going to Sentosa by the Sentosa Express at Vivo city. After turning left, you will reach the MEGA huge shopping mall – VIVO CITY. Bustling with locals and tourist, Vivo City has much surprises installed for you. Its iconic retail, entertainment & lifestyle destination constantly surprise and stimulate visitors with its vibrant mix of retail and entertainment concepts.

If you can’t find your way around the gigantic mall, just look for the directory signs situated all around for navigations.

At level 2, Vivo provides an open playground for kids to enjoy themselves with the facilities built. It is also a wiser choice to bring an additional set of clothes for them, as they might get wet while playing.

Besides shopping and eating, you could enjoy yourself at the wide, open spaces for waterfront relaxation and entertainments at vivo city level 3.

On the same floor, the monorail to Sentosa Express could be found. Upon arriving, you could buy an admission pass for $3 at the ticket machines, where it is valid for a day. You could also check up on the various prices, offers and packages of the various attractions that will indulge in your every interest.

You are currently located at Sentosa Station. You have to tap your card at front of the gate to board the monorail. After which you would have to wait for the monorail to come, at a frequency of 10 to 15 minutes. In order to kick start your Adventure at Sentosa, you might want to try out the Imbiah Lookout, at Imbiah Station. It consists of 12 various exciting attractions in 1 location, about an 8 minutes walk distance from one attraction to another. Or you can consider going to Sentosa’s stretch of sunkissed beaches by stopping at Beach station, which is one stop after Imbiah Station.

During the ride on the monorail, allow yourself to enjoy the breathtaking view of the scenery of seas, see the overview of vivo and the amazing display of Sentosa as a tourism hub of leisure and recreation (currently now it is on construction).
IMBIAH STATION

Exiting the station, you will reach the Imbiah Terrance which is filled with gReeneries and seats allowing you to have the perfect spot to take a break if you are tired while visiting the various attractions, or to take photo of the Merlion in full. From there you can climb up the Terrance or take the escalator up to Imbiah Lookout.

3) Sentosa Nature Discovery
Be awes with the wonders of natural habitats of the different rare heritage trees through the discovery. Walk through an elevated boardwalk to a nature trail, let you senses lose and interact with a wide array of bio-diversified, tropical flora and fauna up close.

4) Butterfly park & insect kingdom
Trek through the lush surrounds of the kingdom and allow 1500 live butterflies from over 50 species to flutter about you as you enjoy yourself in a cool outdoor conservatory. You can immerse yourself inside the incredible world of insects.

5) Sentosa 4d magix
For a mind-blowing interactive experience, this state-of-the- art theatre offers a whole new generation of movie magic. Through the synchronization of visual effects, surround sound, individually-controlled motion seats and special environmental effects such as water spray, all your senses would be fully engaged like never before!

6) Sentosa Cineblast
Be prepared for the ride of your life. Feel the excitement of reaching the top of the mountain, the adrenaline rush into deepest valleys and being tossed about by the whitewater rapids [extreme log ride]. Step right up to the 20- seater cinema for a virtual shoot-out blast! By riding on motion-based saddles and gallop through this animated movie while shooting the bad guys. [Desperados]

7) Megazip adventure park
Ready for the flight of you life? Try out the megazip, which is a spectacular flying fox ride over 450 metres long. Starting from Mount Imbiah, this zip wire will fly you through a jungle canopy, high above Siloso Beach and across the sea and a gentle landing on a small island.

What are you waiting for? It is time to get high at sentosa, by going to ClimbMax. There is a specially constructed tree – top aerial obstacle set amongst the jungle of Mount Imbiah. You can choose one out of the three heights and difficulty levels.

Are you ready to take a leap of faith? Try out the ParaJump, which is a simulated free-fall and parachute landing lets you take a leap of faith. It produced an addictive adrenaline rush.

8) The Merlion & Merlion Walk
Have a fascinating encounter with the biggest replica of Singapore’s symbol – the merlion. This 37 metres high half-lion, half-fish will brings you to the depth of the seas. At level 9, you can catch a glimpse of Singapore’s impressive skyline through it’s mouth gallery viewing deck. At the back, there is a 120 metre-long mosaic walkway.

9) Sentosa luge & skyride
Part go-cart, part-toboggan, the luge offers a fun filled gravity ride experience suitable for all ages through navigation down 650 metres of concrete track. With uniquely styled steering and braking system, it allows the ride to be leisure or exciting depending on the driver. Brace yourself for this new resort adventure, after which go board the skyline and absorb the panoramic scenery of city skyline and beautiful coastline presented to you.

BEACH STATION
The beaches of Sentosa include Tanjong Beach, Palawan Beach and the Siloso Beach, which are connected. The beaches are brimming with energy with an array of fun filled activities such as kayaking, rollerblading and more. It is also a romantic spot for couples trying to spend some quality time by looking at the romantic sights of twinkling ships and lights. The beaches also has an array of dining, shopping options and even open roof alfresco restaurant, for example Café del Mar.

1) Gogreen – segway eco adventure
Explore the beaches of Sentosa while almost effortlessly by gliding on the Gogreen mobile Segway. You have a choice between Tanjong and Siloso Beach.

2) Songs of the Sea
Be prepared to be mesmerized by the new nightly extravaganza set in the sea. It’s a one of a kind entertainment that is not to be missed!

3) Wave House Sentosa
At this 70,000 square foot beachfront venue, you can experience Singapore’s first artificial barreling wave. From body boarding to stand-up rides, it offers hours of fun to everyone. It is a unique blend of entertainment and wave riding that is fun for all ages!

Prices: weekday - 1 hour $30, 2 hour $50. Weekends – 1 hour $35, 2 hour $60

SILOSO POINT
1) Fort Siloso
Fort Siloso is a coastal artillery battery and one of twelve coastal artillery batteries which made up ‘Fortress Singapore ’ at the start of World War Two. Although there are remains of other batteries to be found on Singapore, Fort Siloso is the sole restored battery. ‘Siloso’ is a Filippino word meaning ‘Jealous Person’.
Fort Siloso is located on western tip of the island of Sentosa. The Fort is one of four coastal gun batteries which were constructed on Blakang Mati by the British.
Over here, you will be able to see the surrender chambers, the guard room, the fire direction tower and learn about happenings of War World II.

Operation time: 10am – 6pm daily. Last entry 5.30pm
2) Underwater World
The Underwater World oceanarium on Sentosa is home to more than 250 different fish species. Start your tour with the Touch Pool for some experience with starfish, stingrays and baby sharks. Then venture into the ocean depths via a moving travellator that bring you through a tunnel. For those who don't mind getting wet, interactive programmes such as 'Dive with the Sharks' or 'Dive with the Dugong' are available upon advance booking.

Admission price: Adult - $22.90, Child (3 – 12 years old) - $14.60. Includes admission to Dolphin Lagoon

TIPS
If you are tired from taking the monorail from one station to another, you can take the Sentosa Bus to get around the attractions in Sentosa. There is the Yellow, Blue and Red line. To make it easier for you to travel from one part of the beach the other, you can also take the beach trams, which has a frequency of 10 to 15 minutes.

Night Safari Time!!


Have you heard of the World's First Night Safari?
Yes! It's here at Singapore!

After a hot and tiring day at the Zoo, you may wish to take a short walk to Night Safari, which is located just beside the Singapore Zoo.

Admission fee:

Child (3 to 12 years old) S$11.00

Operating Hours:

7.30pm to 12mn daily

Restaurants and retail shops open from 6:00pm daily

Last admission is at 11.00pm

Come early and catch the cultural performances before you enter the Night Safari. The Bornean Tribal Performers are really impressive with their tribal dances, blowpipe and fire-eating performances. The shows are on next to the Bonger Burgers at 7 pm, 8 pm and 9 pm.

Along the way, there will be a guide on the tram to tell you more about our nocturnal animals in our Safari. Most of the animals are up and about - you’ll get to see many different deer species, the rhinoceros, the Malayan tigers, the capybara (also known as the water hog) that is the largest living rodent, the giant anteater, etc. On a good night, you’ll also get to hear the hyenas laughing, the golden jackals howling and the lions roaring.

As the rule of Night Safari states that there should not be flash lights, hence we did not manage to capture any photos of the animals there. However, I believe that seeing it with your own eyes will be much beautiful then photos.



Wish to explore the Safari by yourself?

Alight at the only mid-way stop and walk the Leopard Trail where you can get a closer look at the Malayan Civet, the porcupine, the leopards and the big-eyed tarsiers. You can board the tram after the walk and continue the rest of the ride. The other 2 walking trails, the Fishing Cat Trail and the Forest Giants Trail, can be reached from the main tram station. At the Fishing Cat Trail, you’ll get to see the mousedeer, the otters and even catch the Fishing Cat… fishing!


Not to forget, there is a great Safari Show at the Night Safari which is worthwhile to catch! It’s great entertainment. And if you are sitting in the first four rows, it promises to be an experience you will not forget.


After the whole trip at the Night Safari, you may wish to buy some souvenirs back too!

Singapore Zoo Boat Ride

The latest attraction to the Zoo is the Boat Safari ride. There are 2 boat dock and the ride take approximately 20mins. Tickets can be purchased at the dock. You will be able to traverse the pristine waters of the Upper Seletar Reservoirs. The Boat Guides will share information about water and wildlife conseration. At the same time,look out for monitor lizards, stork-billed kingfishers or the white-bellied Sea Eagle as the boat glides through the water. Enjoy the serene atmosphere and the cooling breeze.

Splash Safari Show
Be prepared to get your body wet as we present a star-studded cast of African penguins, Californian sealions , Carribean manatees and pelicans at the Splash Safari Show!

Rainforest Fights Back Show
Experience the wonder and magic of the rainforests and be introduced to a host of animals as they fight against rainforest destruction.


Venue: Shaw Foundation Amphitheatre
Time: 10.30am & 1.30pm daily

Elephants at Work and Play Show
Let us introduce you to our lovely and soft-hearted friends at the Zoo! The Asian Elephants! See how they work as well as have fun together with you!

(token feeding will be held after each show)

Time: 11.30am & 3.30pm daily

There is also a showcase of snakes in the Zoo!
